Somma

Fine dining can often be a stiff and stuffy affair. The trappings of decadence—extravagant ingredients and table theatrics—are mistaken for luxury, and self-serving hospitality and gratuitous innovation can make the entire experience feel performative and cold. When at its core, the purpose of a restaurant, no matter the price tag, is to restore one’s body and soul.

We believe that true luxury can be found in the simplest, most humble things—a drop of olive oil, freshly baked bread, a generous hug—if only we took the time to look.

Introducing Somma, a modern Italian fine dining destination by Puglian Chef Mirko Febbrile that aims to redefine luxury for the modern day.

“If there’s one thing that Italians are good at, it’s feeling.

And finding treasure in the depths of feeling. It’s feeling the extremity of joy, the conviction of anger, and the ache of sadness. It’s feeling the sweltering heat of a kitchen in the throes of passion. Or the chill of a negroni glass in your palm, and the trembling excitement of a boisterous bar. It’s feeling so deeply for your art that it compels you to commit a life to it. To perfect a single limestone sculpture. To tend and to till and to plough until harvest. To weave and weave until your hands give out. What a fine feeling it is to simply allow yourself to feel. In the end, life’s finest moments are the ones that stir, and toss, and knead your spirit.”
